Party games to play on your phones, in person

GoFiChat has three party games made for a group in the same place, each person on their own phone: Odd One Out, Draw and Guess, and Quiz. They connect phone to phone over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, so they work with no internet, and up to 8 people can play.

The short answer

Why each person has their own phone

Many party games on a phone are played by passing one phone around, and others need a TV or an internet connection. GoFiChat's party games link everyone's phones directly. Your secret word, your guesses and your answers stay on your screen, everyone plays at the same time, and the scores add up on every phone. The talking still happens out loud, around the table.

Odd One Out

Odd One Out is a word game of the kind often called an imposter game. Everyone gets the same secret word except one player, the odd one out, who only sees the category. Hold your card to see your word, then go round the group, each saying one word about it out loud. The odd one out has to say something that fits without knowing the word.

Then everyone votes on their own phone. Catch the odd one out and they get one guess at the word. If the vote misses, ends in a tie, or they guess right, they win.

Draw and Guess

On your turn, pick one of three words and draw it in 75 seconds. Everyone else watches the drawing appear on their own phone and types guesses, as many as they like. The sooner you guess, the more points you get, and the person drawing scores for every right guess. Halfway through, everyone sees how many letters the word has, and near the end its first letter.

Quiz

Ten questions, each with four answers and 15 seconds. Everyone answers on their own phone at the same moment, and a right answer is worth up to 1,000 points, more the faster you are. After each question you see the answer and the scores, so the lead can change right up to the end. A full game takes under four minutes.

Quiz

Groups that speak different languages

GoFiChat is in English, Spanish, Portuguese (Brazil), Hindi and Indonesian, and each phone uses its own language. In Odd One Out each phone shows the secret word in its own language, Draw and Guess accepts a right guess in any of the five, and Quiz has all 256 questions in each. A group of friends from different countries can play the same round.

More games for a group

Between party games, the rest of the 16 work for groups too. Gumblox is a two-minute race for up to 8 where everyone gets the same pieces. Mini Golf, Bowling and Darts take turns for up to 8, and Dots and Boxes takes up to 4. The room keeps score across all of them, and shows who's on a winning run.

Setting up a party game

Get everyone in a room

One person taps Start a room, and the others scan the QR code. People who are friends in the app are invited with one tap.

Open the game

Tap the controller button and pick Odd One Out, Draw and Guess or Quiz. A table opens at the top of the chat.

Sit down and start

Everyone who wants to play taps Join. When enough people have joined, the person who opened the table taps Start.

Good to know

The words in Odd One Out and Draw and Guess have nothing rude, romantic or scary in them, and the quiz leaves out politics and religion. GoFiChat is for ages 13 and up, and an offensive word filter in the chat is on by default. Anyone can be blocked or reported from their name. Odd One Out needs 3 real players and Draw and Guess needs at least 2, since GoFi Bot can't bluff or draw; Quiz can be played against the bot or solo.

Questions

Is there an imposter word game that works offline?

Can iPhone and Android play the same game?

Yes. All three party games work across iPhones and Android phones in one room.

How many people can play?

Up to 8. Odd One Out needs at least 3, Draw and Guess at least 2, and Quiz works from 1.
