Most connection problems come down to one of the fixes below. If you're still stuck, email support@gofichat.com and tell us which phones you're using.

My friend can't find my room

• Make sure Bluetooth is on for both phones. In airplane mode, turn Bluetooth back on after enabling it.
• Keep the host's GoFiChat open on screen while people join. iPhones stop advertising a room in the background.
• Stand closer. Walls, crowds and pockets shorten Bluetooth range.
• Check that the 6-digit code is right, or scan the QR code instead.

It says Bluetooth permission is needed

iPhone: Settings → GoFiChat → turn on Bluetooth and Local Network.
Android: Settings → Apps → GoFiChat → Permissions → allow Nearby devices.

Faster connections with Wi-Fi

If everyone is on the same Wi-Fi network or one phone's hotspot, GoFiChat also connects over Wi-Fi. That's quicker for live games like air hockey. It works even if the network has no internet.

Someone dropped out

GoFiChat tries to reconnect people for two minutes after they lose the host. If the host leaves, the room closes and someone can start a new one.

Checking the security code

Tap the people icon in a room to see a four-emoji security code for each connection. If it matches on both phones, your connection is private.
