GoFiChat is built so that we never receive your messages, contacts or activity. This policy explains what the app does with information on your device.
The short version
- No accounts, phone numbers or email addresses.
- No servers. Messages and games go directly between phones nearby.
- Messages are end-to-end encrypted between the phones in a room.
- No ads, no analytics SDKs, no tracking, and nothing is sold.
Information you enter
You choose a display name, an emoji avatar and a colour. These are stored only on your phone and are shared only with people in rooms you create or join, so they can see who is talking.
Messages and games
Chat messages, reactions and game moves travel directly between phones over Bluetooth Low Energy or your local Wi-Fi network. Each connection is encrypted with keys generated on the phones for that room (X25519 key agreement and ChaCha20-Poly1305). The phone that hosts a room relays messages to the others and can read them, like any other member of the room. When everyone leaves a room, its messages are gone. GoFiChat does not upload or back them up anywhere.
Permissions
- Bluetooth / Nearby devices: to find and connect to phones nearby. On Android we declare that Bluetooth scanning is not used to work out your location.
- Local network: to connect with phones on the same Wi-Fi or hotspot.
- Camera: only to scan a room's QR code. Images are processed on the phone and never stored or sent.
Data we collect
None. GoFiChat has no backend that receives app data. This website is served by Cloudflare, which may keep standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security and reliability. We don't use cookies or analytics on this site.
Children
GoFiChat does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. Because there are no accounts or servers, there is nothing for us to collect.

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date above.
